International News Coverage

Our director Mr. Gaurav Mittal has recently caught the attention of international media for his efforts to revolutionize the essential oil industry, not just in India but globally. One of his significant initiatives involves encouraging international farmers to diversify their crops and explore high-value aromatic plants to boost their income. Instead of sticking to traditional crops like rice, etc. Mr. Mittal suggests that farmers consider cultivating aromatic plants, which have the potential to be more profitable.

To bring this vision to life, soil samples from international lands could be analyzed in India to identify the most suitable aromatic species for the local environment. To advance this mission, our director established Aromatic and Allied Chemicals Pvt. Limited in Singapore recently.

Under Mr. Gaurav Mittal leadership, Aromatic and Allied Chemicals Pvt. Limited has partnered with over 50,000 farmers across India, resulting in impressive achievements, including multiple awards for product excellence and export success. The company is also an active participant in the CSIR - Aroma Mission, an initiative launched by Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This ambitious project aims to increase farmers' income by integrating aromatic crops into their farming practices.

Aroma Mission: Kashmir Lavender

Our Director Mr. Gaurav Mittal is also deeply involved in the CSIR - Aroma Mission, specifically focusing on lavender farming in Kashmir. He has been working closely with scientists from CSIR–IIIM Jammu to bring about a revolution in lavender cultivation and is known in whole world as “Purple Mission”.

On June 14, 2024, Mr. Gaurav Mittal signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with CSIR - IIIM Jammu. This agreement aims to support farmers in Jammu and Kashmir by promoting the cultivation of aromatic crops like lavender and rosemary, which thrive in the high altitudes of the Himalayas. The scientists at IIIM Jammu are instrumental in developing the best species of these aromatic plants, which will significantly boost farmers' incomes. Traditionally, these farmers have relied on low-income crops like maize and paddy, but with the introduction of high-value aromatic crops, their financial prospects are set to improve dramatically. Mr. Mittal has the privilege to increase the farming of these crops in Valleys of J&K with his camps and technical knowledge given to farmers thus motivating them to cultivate these crops. Mr. Mittal and his company Aromatic and Allied then buy back all the crops and the essential oil of Lavender that is produced, at premium prices, which in turn supports farmers with good income. All the cultivation of these crops are done on a sustainable model.

Working in Tribal Areas

Mr. Gaurav Mittal, in collaboration with CSIR-CIMAP, has also been making significant contributions to the development of tribal areas in Arunachal Pradesh and Northeast India. Under his guidance, Aromatic and Allied Pvt. Ltd. has focused on the cultivation of aromatic crops in these regions to meet the growing demand in the global market. The company has provided multiple steam distillation units to these tribal areas, supporting local farmers and promoting sustainable agriculture. This initiative not only boosts the income of these communities but also helps in maintaining a stable and sustainable cropping system.

Through these efforts, Mr. Gaurav Mittal has made a lasting impact on the essential oil industry, uplifting farmers across India and beyond. His work continues to be recognized and celebrated both nationally and internationally.
